1791 Meeting House Museum

Located at 79 Main Street, the Meeting House Museum serves as an important piece of our historic downtown. First built in 1791 on Meeting House Hill, it was moved to Main Street and reconstructed in 1838, and served as the Town Hall until 1905. In the 1960’s, the Town of Ashburnham sold the Meeting House to the Historical Society for one dollar. It houses a number of fascinating documents and antiques relating to the history and families of early Ashburnham, and is where many of our engaging programs and fundraisers are held. Mostly unchanged from its reconstruction in 1838, its features include a complete tin interior and original windows on the main floor.

The Meeting House Museum is open to the public on Saturday mornings 9am-12pm end of April through end of October, and for special programs as scheduled.
